I'm totally addicted to body ink, with 24 tattoo's and not ready to stop. My husband said to me the other day that enough is enough, he doesnt like them, and I had none when we met. I know he loves me for who I am, not what I look like on the outside. So is it time to compromise and not get any more? I told him I would stop after these two more I really want. But in all fairness I told him 14 yrs ago I would stop after my third one and now I have 24. When ever we go anywhere people ask me about my tattoo's, some people just stare, others make nasty remarks. So I know I will get some judgemental answers, and some useful ones.

Tatts....I think you have hit the nail on the head..... Tattoos are addictive. One is not enough......so you get another one, your last one......just a little one (where no one will see it) ,,,,but before the ink has healed you're already stopping at shops and looking at flash on the walls with longing........... Just one more thats all you tell yourself .....just one more tattoo....uhhhh to commemerate the birth of your kids. But is doesn't stop there does it. YOU CAN"T STOP..... and then one day you wake up with TRIBAL on your body and you start to realize that you have a problem, a real problem.

All kidding aside Tatts you do have a problem......you've been with a guy for 14 years.....and during that time you have ignored his feelings, thoughts and concerns not once, not twice but TWENTY THREE times. And you're asking us if its time that you COMPROMISE!!!!!
Duhhh...... Never mind what other people think about your tattoos.... You should be concerned about what your husband thinks about them. From your question I 'm guessing that you have tattoos on your arms, hands, neck and face if it makes such a stir whenever you go out in public.
I assume that you love this man. You've been married to him for more that fourteen years......maybe its time to step back and make some decisions about whats really important to you. Ask yourself would you rather have twenty four tattoos and a man you love at your side when you're old and gray or would you rather be alone in the nursing home wearing a wrinkled full body suit.

I can understand how tattoos can be addicting..... really I do.....why else would I spend hours looking them....thinking about getting the next one.....my last one....
Tatts, I have a solution for you. Promise your wonderful patience enduring husband that you won't get any more ink. You said that you have twenty four tattoos some of them over 15 years old ....So every six months or so go back to your artist and starting with the oldest one have them touched up and refinished one at a time. This will help you feed the ink monster inside you and it will get you through the next 12 years.
good luck tatts........I think you're going to need it

I have Phil Ochs tattooed on my arm (folk singer) I also have "Never Die" and a rose tattooed across my toes, with a tigerbat above the toes on my left foot for Tiger Army. I see me getting a couple more musician tattoos. I have an Ochs lyric tattoed across the back of my neck (Sacred are the scars) and an Op Ivy lyric across the insides of both arms (It's beautiful I would say... I wouldn't have it any other way.) I'm thinking about a hot-rod culture tat, skulls and roses and a banner, gotta pick the lyric to go in the banner though. As it stands today, I'd probably choose "In death as in life, I will arise" or "My conscience carries the weight of blood."

I'm sorry, does your husband live in your skin??

Me and my husband both have pretty heavy ink coverage, and not a single tattoo that he has I am crazy about, and visa versa. But that is the nature of the beast. If he is shallow enough to have a problem with your tattoos and not be able to love you for the woman that he fell in love with, then is that really worth it? I love all of my tattoos and mods and they make me who I am, they help me remember special times in my life, and help me remember what I was doing and going through when I got them. Some people take pictures, or keep scrapbooks. I just have my feelings drawn into my skin.

1000 would not be enough, if that was what you thought was beautiful!!!!

I am 20 years old and a mom and wife. I have almost a fuill sleeve and about 7 others aside from my arm, I grew up in Cali and had them there and got lots of attention because of them. I now live in the VA area where there not so common. You just have to do what you believe. I love mine and wouldn't change them for the world. My hubby knew about them when we met so I don't know what to say about that sunject, But don't let other poeples opinions effect you. I always tell poeple that I would rather be 90 yrs old with a sleeve regreting it, then 90 sitting in my rocking chair wishing I knew what it was like to have experianced something like that. Good luck :)

On women it really depends on where you work and how you chose to live. If you have a corporate job i think more than 3 (well hidden) is to much. But if you are in an artistic field then no more than 15. Unless of course you are a tattoo artist. Everyone gets nasty comments from other people but you have to ask yourself if you are going to let what other people think bother you. (Please save a marraige and stop getting the tattoos.)

that is a very hard thing to decide. i think you two should talk about it. does he have any tattoos? in all fairness to him 24 is a lot but then, are they 24 tiny tattoos? or are they fairly large or all mixed sizes? that would be a tough one for me. i would probably beg and cry until i got what i wanted but i don't know hopefully my husband won't get fed up with my tattoos before i am finished. i have a feeling he will tho....
and for those people who are saying that women with more than X number of tattoos is not attractive or that women with big tattoos are not attractive are just ignorant.

honestly, i think if he'll put up with 24, he'll probly put up with 124. now, i'm not saying that you should take it far enough for it to become a marriage ending issue. if you think you are the type of person who would like to most of your body with ink, then he probly needs to know this now (or, preferably 14 years ago). i think there's a line that some of us cross that line that separates us from the people who simply like tattoos. i don't think it's just a question of him being able put up with your outside, but him being able to accept what you are on the inside.too. i dunno why, but we're a different breed of people. i think if he loves you now, then he'll be able to accept that you are one of "those people". i mean, are sleeves really going to make that much of a difference in the amount or type of outside attention you get right now? but, i guess if you're willing to stop for him, then it couldn't hurt.

In all fairness to him, he's really compromised in the fact that he asked you to stop after your 3rd one and you've gotten 24?
I would say to really pick your battles on this one.

I have 3 tattoo's and I wan't 2 more and then I hope I will be wise enough to stop. I don't get them in visible spots and if I were married and it bothered my husband I would definately take his feelings into consideration. He loves you but he loved you before all of the ink. I think on Woman visible tatto's are not attractive. It think men with tattoo's all over their bodies are unattractive also. They are beautiful work but not attractive.

I love tattoos but im not into the big ones on arms and stuff but i would say that it is good if you have around 4 small ones but dont go over for cause then it will look stupid and if you have big ones and you went over 4 then it will look silly!!
