Lure swinging is very difficult to learn. My partner practiced for six months with a lure before he was allowed anywhere near a bird with it. We teach falconry as a profession, usually for peoples first bird being a harris hawk where you don't have to learn to use a lure because hawks are flown in a different way to falcons. We could teach you how to use a lure correctly but this would take a lot longer than the usual five day course we do.

Either from other falconers or from practice. It's really not that hard, it just takes timing to pull it away just as the falcon almost grabs it so that the bird pulls away and comes back for a second, third, or fourth pass. Eventually you let it catch the lure and then reward it with the 'kill'.

Have fun.
