I am a woman who has served in the US Army for 4 years. We have fought for our equality in this country for so long, and we still don't get equal treatment as it is. This is because of men like you who feel the need to protect us from everything.
We are not fragile creatures. It has been scientifically proven women have a higher pain threshold than men. Our bodies are made to bear children, after all. Because of this, women can be very effective soldiers.
But they still do not place women on the front line; any woman that had been captured, like Jessica Lynch, was in a non-combative unit that was ambushed. The reason she survived was because while the Army doesn't like the idea of putting women into battle, they do still train us in basic fighting skills and they still train us to utilize the weapons issued to us. If they're going to send us into harm's way, even if not to specifically engage in combat, they may as well prepare us.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying women should be allowed on the front line for the sake of equality. But they better be prepared for when the situation arises. They should be taught to fight and to defend themselves.
And who the hell cares about the religion of the war-torn countries the military is sent to? They should realize that we in America have given women the right to equality and therefor a right to serve our country. Just because they view women as being inferior doesn't mean we need to out of respect. Haven't you ever heard about the way they treat their women in their countries? They are treated like cattle; only there to bear children and take care of their man and nothing else. They're basically servants.

I don't like to look at it as a gender issue, some of my best Sailors have been female, and some of the worst have been male. Of course, there are really good male sailors, and bad female ones. It comes down to how well can someone work in a team, how hard are they willing to work, and how much natural talent do they have, these issues are gender nuetral. There are some disadvantages women face (physical strength) but they also posses great advantages- for instance they are very good comminicators. Having a diverse armed forces is what makes us strong. The only negative is when you put boys and girls togerther on a ship, some start to compete with others for attention of the opposite sex, and all kind of trouble can stem from that, but that is more the immaturity of a person than their gender.

I agree, and are you even in the Military? Anyways, I feel women shouldn't have any combat MOS. About 37 women died in Iraq, already. I think women should still be able to join the Military but not be in the front lines or have combat MOS. And wheres your source, do you have any proof that U.S male soldiers sexually assaulted U.S women? If you don't keep your little mouth shut. And I can't even believe you just said that, you do relize you insulted U.S soldiers? You're disgraceful.
Women are likely to be sexually assualted when and if at war and captured by the enemy, not by her fellow soldiers. Not many or any women that join or that will join the U.S Military cannot pick up a man when and if he is wounded in combat. The average man weighs alteast 175 pounds and is 5"10 in the U.S Military
I'm sure women are damn good fighters! But I still don't wan't them to have combat MOS.
If you don't want to read all that then i'll just put what I said about women not being combat MOS in shorter terms. Women are very likely to be sexually assaulted if captured by the enemy. A women can not carry/lift a man, she would need to if her fellow soldier were to be wounded. A man can over-power a women. Some women can take down men, but not many. A 5"5 weighing less then 140 pounds couldn't possibly take down a 6"2 man a weighing well over 220.
There is more, I wan't women to join. But I don't want them to have combat MOS.

I am not against women in the military at all. The only problem I have with women in the military is that many women are placed in positions where they do not belong. What I mean by this, is I am 6' 220lbs, the last woman I worked with was 5'3 115lbs., we would often be on our own conducting security rounds, etc. Both of us knew that if something happened to me, she would not be able to carry my a@# out of harms way. She knew this and eventually went to a different line of work. I never heckled her or gave her a hard time for it either. My new partner who is training right now is another woman. I have met her and I completely confident that she could save me in need be. All I am getting at is, I want the woman to be able to do same things that I can do. I'm gonna save her if some thing happens, I want her to be able to do the same.

I actually am against women being on the front lines or any part of battle. Nurses or doctors are fine and other jobs that don't involve front line battle. I believe this only because if a woman is caught by a man she will most likely be raped and tortured. It's reality and women should just accept the fact that some jobs are not meant for them. Sure they may be capable of battle but there are certain situations that would be horrible for them.
It's clear that USUQU is living in a dream world. Maybe you should join the Arabs with their archaic belief system about women.

I am not against women in the military, but I am very definitely against women in combat, or combat support units. My primary reason is very simple, and the reason that Israel dropped the practice over 30 years ago: If a unit on the line finds itself with a "deteriorating situation" - taking substantial casualties with the possibility of being over-run - the men will be more concerned about protecting the women rather than reversing the situation. This is very natural (sorry girls!), but not good when every troop should be facing the same way, sucking it up, and ignoring his buddy (for the moment) who just got hit and is screaming his head off. For this reason I would not want women in my unit even if they volunteered. Hope this clears things up a little. Have a good day.

The United States provides equal rights for everyone. Women can join the Armed Forces, but they are less likely to make it into Special Forces, but there have been exceptions. I think if it really comes down to it, no I am not against it. There have been many women in our history who have served a greatly to our country with the military. Infantry, espionage, or nurses... women have been a great contribution to this country.

We're talking about the military - it is each citizen's duty to protect their country, not every man's duty to protect "his" women.
In war, men also sexually torture other men. It may be true that female servicemembers sometimes fall victim to sexual assault by fellow soldiers, but that is illegal and is becoming better dealt with over time. Should women not be allowed to go to bars or wear skirts because it could induce a rapist?
