Ohh- they might.

There are some cat doors that will only open in the presence of the matching collar.

Perhaps if you were willing to spring for this item, your mother will allow it to be installed. The collar woudl only be used for your mother's cat, and not open for yours.

You can be absolutely sure that your cats will want to follow your mom's cat outside.
I would ask that the cat door be taped up for the time that my cats are there. Your mom would have to let her cat in and out, but that seems like a safer alternative then letting your cats out as well.
I can tell you from experience that once you let the cats out, they will always want to go out, and will meow and drive you nuts if you don't let them.

Younger kittens will follow the older cats. Would it be too inconvenient for your mom to come to your house and feed your kitties and scoop the litter box? Or maybe a neighbor would be willing to help you out with this, then your little ones wouldn't have to leave their own environment. Or, check with your Veterinarian and see if they board pets while their owners are away. I had a Vet that use to do this.

Maybe you could ask your mom to supervise the outings just for this one trip, or maybe she can keep both her cat and yours inside if your trip is short, like overnight. That way, your mom can make sure your kitten doesn't follow the older cat outside.

I am thinking they are going to be curious and follow. But i am sure your mom will think of this and take it into consideration and think of something so they don't get out and get harmed. If she has a cat then she must love cats and know you love yours to and take care of your baby's. Relax it's your mom, there not going to the vet and getting caged up.Just mention it to her and make sure! Good Luck!

It is possible....maybe she could block the cat door when your cat is there. I would be worried too. Sorry...I am sure she could do something
