If he finished it then it most likely means he still cares about you as a good friend.

That doesn't mean anything. I hug alot of people. Give my boyfriend's friends kisses on the cheek and hugs. It doesn't mean I love, like, want, am attracted to, or anything with any of them.
You ask this quesiton because you WANT to read into it. You are asking this question with an answer in mind, hoping someone will validate it for you... is it that you think he's still in love with you? Is it that you think he wants to get back together?
Quit that thinking. If he did he would tell you. Don't over read into a stupid hug.
I'm friends with my ex who I dated for over a year. We still go out to lunch or coffee and we hug whenever we see eachother and when we leave. I have no want to get back with him and I am physically UN-attracted to him. Its just a friendly gesture. Its a comforting gesture.
What you SHOULD read into is why you posted this post? Why do you wonder? Do YOU still have feelings for him? Do YOU want to get back together with him? Do you want him to have feelings for you for ego purposes?
That is all you can read out of this entire situation.

It means he cares about you and wants to hug you. Dont take it too deep though. My ex husband and i have been divorced for nearly 5 years and we still hug one another when we see each other. It just means we care for one another but nothing more or less.
He may care for you more than what i am thinking, but in order to be sure, u need to feel him out a bit and see. Ask him if he still thinks about you romantically, or if he ever regrets splitting. See what he is doing and feeling.

My ex-boyfriend for almost 10 years still hugs and kisses me on the lips when we see each other. It means that you still occupy a big space in his heart. It doesn't necessarily mean he wants you back but its a sign that person loves you still nevertheless.

It depends on how you broke up? Was it mutual and why did you break up? If you broke off with him maybe he still loves you. Or, maybe he's just overcome with nostalgia, or he's just letting you know he is okay(there could be a thousand explanations)just ask him.
