Good answers,

however let me restate the question: What do "all" good parents want their children to do.

(more clues to come)

But Remeber: not just what you want your children to do, but what "all" good parents want their children to do.

"ttc" - that is an excellent answer. However, I doubt if your mother said that to you thousands of times. - smiles

Dear "Katie S" - You get an "A" for effort. But I can't believe your mother said that to you a thousand times in your life. Of course, I could be wrong. God love you. - smiles

Many parents say " I just want my children to be happy". Where is the happiness taking them. It depends on where they are aiming. It is always better to choose a character over comfort. Free will makes things interesting. : )

Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family says that the goal of parenting is to help kids gradually decrease dependence on parents and increase dependence on God.

This question leaves a lot of room for variation. GOOD parents (being ones who are believers in God) can only lead them in the right direction, be a good example to them and when they can't help turn them over to God. When I say Good parents are believers I did not mean they are more righteous then a non-believer, I just mean God is within them and that is what makes them good. You can't force your Children to become Christians, but you can bring them up in a way where they atleast know about Him. Your children decide for themselves. You can never force someone to become a Christian, but you can pray for them and lead them in His direction. I feel bad for the non-believers, but all I can do is pray for them and provide them answers when they need them. True Christians never force their faith on anyone. Others religions do, such as the belief of Islam, where they kill any non-converts, believers. Their belief states all infadels will be killed. Sorry to go way off topic, but all you can do as a good parent is lead them in the right direction, and try not to let them CONTROL YOU. Parents now-a-days are too afraid to punish their kids. The Bible says you have to teach them right from wrong. He says that this is how you show them your love. It may seem strange, but this is true. I am sorry if I wasted your time, please do not think I am trying to force my faith onto you. I can only hope I helped, best of luck, take care, and GOD BLESS!

To find contentment while traveling through this life of trials and hardships. To discover they did not walk alone and they never traveled far from our hearts. But most of all, that there is a God through Jesus that will love them unconditional inspite of their mistakes.

Edit: Behave is what she said thousands of times. MOSTLY, be happy.

Have a personal and loving relationship with our Lord. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be happy, content and satisfied, respectful to all, have a good heart, have friends that are a good influence, to have good morals, values, and to set good priorities. And not to fall into peer pressure.
