Male cats urine is always stronger than females. Have you tried wood pellet cat litter I found this one to be the best and the most economical. It smells of PINE. Male Cats urine is strong for the purpose of using it to mark his territory. If your boyfriend is unhappy he should have done a little more homework on cats.Try and encourage him to go outside as well,(the cat I mean) unless you live on a busy road. The other alternative is to build a cat run,in the garden ,possibly you could have one of the house windows as a cat flap,I used this Idea ages ago and it worked very well. It would have to be a window that is at the far end of the house i.e.in the conservatory / utility room that leads to the house.Good Luck. The cat run would need a door leading outside.!

You're boyfriend has to be a bit understanding here.
It's a litter pan, the cat poos and pees there. It's going to smell a little. I doubt anyone could go in the bathroom after he's used it and not complain about the smell. Just explain to him that you love the cat and boyfriends are easily replaced. LOL (kidding, mostly)
Anyway, I keep my cats litter in an out of the way place that's well ventilated and I clean it out twice a day. I also use Lysol Neutra-Air, the air sanitizer, and it really works well to keep the air pretty clean smelling. It also helps to clean the area around the litter pan (even the pan itself) with a good disinfectant like Pine Sol regularly.
Good luck, and I hope this helps. : )

There are litterboxes that will change the box for you right after your cat gets out. That way the smell really can't go anywhere in the first place. Keep using baking soda and the smell should be completely gone!

I clean my litter box in the am and in the evening. I have 2 cats and nobody who comes into my house can smell my cats, do you wash the box? Do you use scoopable cat litter? That is much better than the other kind and obsorbs the smell much better and is easier to clean. I would also consider the food, chicken&lamb food is good and less smell and if you feed your cat a cheap brand of cat food that could be apart of it as well. The better food you feed the better his digestive system his.

If you are buying fish flavored cat food, that could be the problem. Try your cat on a chicken or beef flavored cat food. You can buy kitty litter with odor control, although the ones that work well are a little more expensive than some others. Good luck!

Has your kitten been checked for parasites?, I would recommend that you have his stool checked, you can drop it off at your local vet and they will check it for you for minimum cost. Also you may want to look at the ingredients in the food that you are feeding your cat. If you are purchasing a commercial grocery store type food you will certainly see your cat produce smelly stool. You may want to consider changing his/her food to a good quality premium food such as Iams, Natural Balance, Percise, food such as these are higher quality and your pet will definately benefit from them. Good Luck.
PS- there is a litter additive made by Natures Miracle called Ammo Cat, that definately will control the urine odor as well.

no need to completely change the litter box that many times a day...you just need to scrape the poop out when he goes and throw it away (i use old walmart bags) and also i use arm and hammer carpet fresh in the bottom of the box before putting the litter in and if you dont have a covered litter box this will help immensely

I don't know about this one. Try some pet safe air fresheners. And don't let your boyfriend make you get rid of your cat. Who did you have longer, the cat or the boyfriend(hopefully the cat will win)? Maybe your cat wants some different food. My cat likes different food sometimes just don't change it often.

Is the kitten neutered? If not, the odor might be caused because of his marking urges. Please neuter him if he isn't already.
Dr. Elsey's Ultra Cat Litter is a GREAT litter for odor control. It's a bit more expensive, but nearly always worth it. You can find it at most PetSmarts.

Is he neutered? If not then this might be the problem. Male cats (or any other species) tend to be a lot more stinkier due to their musk and such.
