ok well i need to buy a new soldering iron i have the weller bp645 cordless iron but it is trash it doesn't get hot enough to solder unless the batteries are brand new, i was thinking about getting

its fairly inexpensive and what i really want to know is.. will that thing melt my solder so i can actually finish modding my psp..

well the iron works but it just takes like 1.5 minutes to heat up and i solder 1 joint and the heat drops..

if you buy a soldering iron, it is suppose to do what it is made for, regardless. i'd say yours might have a heating element issue. or maybe is your tip loose. check this before buying a new one

go to radio shack. they have all kinds and they are cheep.
