First of all, you never want to use a hub, you want to use a switch. 2nd; this only works if the broadband modem you have is either also a router, and can provider private side NAT IP addresses, OR you can get more than 1 IP address from your internet provider.

The reason for a router in the first place, is because it takes the 1 PUBLIC IP address that you are given by your internet provider, and shares it with up to 254 devices on your side of it. It does it with a technology called NAT. If your broadband modem only has the 1 IP address and doesn't have a built in router with NAT, then you will only be able to use 1 device on the broadband connection. Check with your broadband internet provider if you aren't sure. Some providers like most DSL internet connections have a built in router in their modem and can generate via DHCP the private IP addresses. This, and NAT, allows the use of a switch or an additional router. Many cable providers are set up where there is only 1 IP address available coming out of the cable modem. In this case, you have to have the router 1st in order to use more than one device. UNLESS you can PAY for a 2nd IP address from the cable company.

There are a lot of ways to handle QOS on your network. There are a few very good routers that perform this task quite well. They can prioritize anyway you want. A good test to try however is to turn off all the pc's and everything EXCEPT your router and the adapter. If you are still having deteriated phone calls, then it's not a QOS issue. How can it be, when nothing is competing with the adapter.

Exactly the same thing happened to me after I got BT broadband. I'm not sure what the cause was, but I had to have the engineers out and they sorted it.

Two possibilities:
the battery in the telephone needs replacing
or
have you attached filters to each of your telephone jack sockets - find out more here: http://www.tiscali.co.uk/help/broadband/filters.html

I'm with Tiscali but had the same problem. I figured out what the prob was though. It was to many things going through the same box. I had my living room phone, bedroom phone and modem all set up through the same extension box. Try re-arranging your line set up. It worked for me and a friend who had the same prob. Good luck.

Might be connectivity problem. If not, try calling the number on the back of the telephone or return it if its new.
