Ok so I have limited space and have been thinking about buying a futon for a full time bed, however I heard that they are uncomfortable. So I am wondering if anyone here uses one in this capacity, and if anyone knows any webpage’s or any resources as far as finding a nice(Comfortable) Futon. Or if you use one in this capacity that is comfortable where did you buy yours. thanks.

I am in the same situation you are. I live in a very tiny apartment, and I needed space! And most of all, I needed to be able to use everything in my apartment to the best of it's ability.

I went and bought a futon for my bed, that way I can convert it into a couch. Also, I have a futon in my living room. That way, when someone comes over and stays the night, they can sleep on a full size queen bed.

I find them very comfortable, depending on which one you choose. If you live around an IKEA or another furniture store, they should have a good selection whatever your budget is.

You can get a really nice futon at any furniture store and I'm not talking about the metal frame ones. I mean wood and they can actually support a nice mattress. It's not really the futon, it's the mattress. If you have limited funds, you can check walmart.com, target.com, or valuecity.com and they have things there that you can't find in the stores. Its always best to spend the little extra on something like a bed so you don't have to replace it anytime soon.

Good luck! :)

I would try them out at a store first. They are very uncomfortable to sleep on. Especially if this is a room you will use all the time. If it is a guest room that will not be used much, it would be ok...but I would opt for a full bed. Just don't get a footboard...takes up a lot of room. Just get a "hollywood" frame and headboard (you don't even have to have a headboard) Or go for a twin bed - if this is for one person and push it against the wall and decorate with pillows against the wall...or get a daybed with a trudle that pulls out.

if you are planning to get a futon to use as a bed. do not get one from kmart or places like that. youll want to get one from an actual bed place or good furniture store. my mother in law bought a temporary one at kmart and my sister law used it for her bed and the mattress went so flat that you could feel the bars underneith it. i bought one from a bed and furniture store, it had a very thick mattress that did not go flat. i didnt really like it cause it was so uncomfortable, but i had limited space just like you. i eventually gave it away and bought another bed. i think i used the futon for about 3 years. i think it all depends on you and what you like. i would never go back to using one as a bed. i would sure use one as a couch. good luck

Slept on one for years, from Japan. Don't recommend it.
Try a murphy bed with a real mattress preferably a therapedic.

I tried puting one in my room. to tell you the truth, it wouldn't even fit through my door way. A lot of them, are actually larger than beds. Plus, they are way, uncomfortable. It's like sleeping on a rough plank board. (ouch) Sometimes it may be comfier than the floor (not mine)
