I would suggest San Diego. Did you know that the bridge in Coronado is one of the tallest in the world and it gives a magnificent view of the area. Did you also know that Hotel Coronado is one of the most beautiful hotel not only in the US but also in the world.
Another area in San Diego is Oceanside or in Harbor area where Mariott view offers a spectacular view of this area.
Try going to one of the theme parks, Sea World, Wild Animal or San Diego Zoo. Balboa Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the world. See its website.
Try riding the trolley. It is only then that I appreciated the whole of San Diego since it is so widespread.

San Diego is the perfect place for a honeymoon. You will find some great hotels along the coast and lots of romantic things to do. For example:

watch a spectacular ocean sunset

snuggle around a bonfire on a beach

kayak through the caves at La Jolla

bicycle along the coast

take a horse drawn carriage ride through Balboa Park or along the waterfront

curise the bay

stroll a romantic beach

ride a gondola

hike to a waterfall and swim under the falls

Orange County (between Los Angeles and San Diego) if you like beaches. Stay in Laguna Beach (lots of small hotels right on the beach), Dana Point (Ritz Carlton has the best location, right on a cliff over the best beach in Dana Point), Newport Beach, or Huntington Beach.

From Dana Point, you can take a boat to Catalina Island and stay there for a couple days as well. There are some great kayaking, parasailing, snorkeling, and diving excursions in Catalina.

The Ragged Point Inn on Hwy 1 ... it is a little drive, but worth it. Spectacular views, great restaurant and four nearby waterfalls to hike to if you want to venture outside your suite.
