If you really believed a 'sin is a sin' than on what moral basis do you put some crimes ahead of others and why would you do that?

Are the court systems to go along with this reasoning as well that all crime is 'the same in God's eyes', why not if it's true?

why not give a child killer the same punishment as someone who is a dishonest business man? Surely the all wise knowing God can't see the difference, so why should we?

If there is no real 'victim' in sight, why do you yell up and down about homosexuality more than you do people who get drunk?

God can't see the difference, right? so why do you care?

God sees all "sin" the same and God sees a Hitler SS man who killed thousands of children the same as he sees a man who cheated on his taxes really insults an all wise, all powerful creator, it makes God out to be small, childish, without a sense of ethics, without any wisdom.
But then now I'm not describing God, I'm just describing some of those who follow him.

I'm an atheist who believes abortion should be banned after the 8 week gestation.
But that is not the point,
I would like you to clarify your ethical philosophy, if you can.

Nani: yeah I do, and not only is what your describing not making sense, it also makes God look bad, makes him seem to be without wisdom, without morality!
I'm sorry but I'm not only offended by your opinions that "it's really wrong because the law says so, and there is no ethical degree in sin beyond that", but it also makes me nauseous.

Well, regardless of what Christians believe, the United States criminal justice system is a secular set of entities that does not abide by theocratic law. Yet, anyway.

We are not God, we are followers of God. God will judge everyone how he sees fit. He is the ultimate judge. Since we are not God and still need to live on this earth with others. I personally even as a Christian would feel more comfortable having a tax defrauder over my house than a Hitler ss man. It's not because I despise one over the other, it's that I would feel more comfortable. Yes, a sin is a sin is a sin to God, but again we are not God and we need to punish how we see fit. I don't believe in murder, but I do believe that someone should be punished according to their crime. I would hate to live in a country you would make if a shoplifter has to live in a prison with a serial killer because it's all the same to you. I'm a Christian and I can still be okay with the fact that people go to jail for different times for different reasons. For the record I think all abortion is bad, not just partial birth abortions.

The basis for God seeing all sin as sin is so that a person who cheats on their taxes cannot say, "I'm still a good person because at least I haven't robbed a bank or murdered anyone." The consequences of their guilt maybe different here on earth, but it doesn't make that person any better than the next guy in the eyes of God. All have sinned and no one can make it on their own merit. After this life, the punishment for all sinners is the same.

The laws in our government have to make consequences different to bring justice, protect society, and to rehabilitate those that can be rehabilitated.

I think the church should be just as vocal about the divorce rate as they are about homosexuality. Yes, we do need to treat all people with grace and call all sin ugly no matter who's wearing it - a pastor or serial murderer.

In a partial start abortion, the infant is almost finished term... this is executed the day the infant is due if the female desires to attend that long. besides, the cervix is artificially dilated, the infant is grabbed by skill of the ft and all yet its head is pulled out. The "physician" tilts the infant to partly disclose the lower back of its head, together as conserving its little face in. Then scissor like gadgets are stabbed into the backside of cranium, by skill of the neck. The brains are suctioned out, collapsing the cranium so the infant could be bumped off and discarded. each and every so often they're accomplished for the reason that's chanced on the infant isn't "suitable", in keeping with risk it has Downs Syndrome or something like that. each and every now and then that's finished via fact the infant has some ailment that ought to reason it to die after start besides. each and every so often it is by technique of the fact the mum is only too ill for exertions. There are additionally some situations the place that's only via fact the female desperate she does not want a baby. For some reason that's criminal to kill a completey attainable infant for the reason which you probably did no longer circulate it 2 or 3 greater inches down the start canal. If the "physician" pulled it ou only that fairly greater, it could be homicide, legally conversing. of direction, i think of its homicide the two way.

Forget for a moment what Christians might think about this issue what do you think about it?

Do you even know what a partial birth abortion is and how it is performed?

In my opinion this is an issue that ought to be equally repugnant to atheists, agnostics, devil worshipers, what ever!

The very idea of using a legal loop hole to justify the murder of a child, fully formed, partially born (but for the head, which remains in the loving and tender care of the mothers birth canal) while a man of medicine plunges a sharp long instrument into the base of the child's head attacking the CNS .... what could possibly be wrong with that?

Why anyone would need a Christian to tell them that there was something not quite right about that is frankly beyond me. What is this world coming to?

And all said and done it is still the sin that God hates, not the sinner. My heart truely goes out to any woman who has for whatever reason aborted a pregnacy. But to abort one in such a way must leave a horrible mental scar. I pray they will turn to Christ for comfort in their hour of need.

There is a twofold problem with your hypothosis concerning sin being sin. Firstly consider that it is man's impertect system of judging right and wrong, (while based on God's law) that in the first instance makes these moral distinctions.

Secondly, it is clear from God's word that He also makes some distinctions but He does so for our benifit not His. For as long as we continue to view our good and bad from our own perspective and not His, we will fail to recognise that we are so deeply lost in sin there is no hope for us. All of our sin is so utterly repugnant to God that we need supernatural help to be free of it.

That kind of freedom can only come to us by His grace and through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other way for us to be reconciled to God.

I'm sorry this is so hard for you to understand.

God forgives *all* sin because He's so much bigger than we are, not smaller. We're the ones who struggle with forgiving different wrong doings. They're so henious to us, we think the doer should suffer for all time. We can't conceive of the idea of forgiving it.

We have societal laws to maintain order, and those laws are based on a system of punishments that varies by the depth of the crimes as *we* see them to be. We are no longer talking about what we consider a sin, you see. Now we are talking about a governmental law. There's a difference. One deals with our relationship with God and how He asks us to behave. The other deals with our relationship with the world around us and how that world (country, state, neighborhood, whatever) asks us to behave. We should always choose God's way first, of course, but even the Bible admonishes us to follow our government's laws as well.

Simply put, God's love is so much deeper, stronger and yes, wiser, than ours that He's able to forgive *any* sin if only the sinner asks. That has *nothing* to do with the justice system of a country of men here on Earth, dear. You're really reaching here and it's a shame so many people jumped on this poorly constructed bandwagon with you.

And by the way, "If there is no real 'victim' in sight, why do you yell up and down about homosexuality more than you do people who get drunk". You *sure* about that? You absolutely sure I do that?

It is true that all sin is sin that doesn't change the fact that some sins receive a tougher penalty. The word translated "sin" means rebellion, lawlessness, or to deliberately miss the mark. Now just like in an archery competition a 9 instead of a 10 is good shooting you still don't win the match.

Christians view abortion as the exact same thing as killing a 4 year old. Just like most people would be all for stopping someone from killing a 4 year old (even a 4 year old who had a disability), Christians believe that a baby with brainwaves and a heart beat should be protected in the same way whether the baby is inside its mother or outside its mother.

Not all sin is the same just read 1 John 5:16 , there you will read that there are sins and then there are sins unto death.Their are gross sins such as you speak of here and there are willful premeditated sins of which there is no grace for unless they are repented of.

I hear people say that a fetus has no feelings so it doesn't matter. So all these old people in nursing home who just lay there , should we flash them down the toilet? Would that be murder ?

As far as I know, Christians want Abortion period outlawed not just Partial birth. Our legal system is not fair at times. Neither is God's. Hitler His SS Men could all be saved by God's grace, and the guy who cheats on his taxes could go to hell. Fairness has nothing to do with it. In all fairness, every last one of us deserves Hell, INCLUDING YOU!!!! and of course me too! However, many Christians have their pet sins and their own personal sinometer. This is sad. Sin is Sin and every sin, even the small ones have reprocussions. Many Christians, are (to quote you), are small, childish, without a sense of ethics, without any wisdom. But God is not like them, He is our Savior.

Just because all sin is equal, should it all be ignored? Abortion is taking away a life that could change the world. God hates all sin, but loves all sinners, but that doesn't mean we should strive for mediocrity. If ALL sin is equal, then it's still bad no matter what sin it is, so it shouldn't be done anyway. Just trying to make the world a better place, one step at a time. Peace out.
