Initiate treatment at 2 weeks; repeat at 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age. For a puppy at increased risk, also treat at 10 and 12 weeks, and then monthly until the puppy is 6 months old. Thereafter, use a heartworm preventative medication that is also effective against hookworms and roundworms. I suggest Heartguard PLUS it treats all. (I work at a Animal Hospital.)

hi,
You should worm your puppy every 2 weeks until its 12 weeks old, then monthly until its 6 months old, after that it really depends what product you are using as each wormer has a different protocol. i would recommend using one bought from a vets, but as they are often based on weight you can weigh your puppy at the same time to make sure it recieves the correct dose and is growing at the correct rate etc. You should check before you give it anything what the breeder has given it and ask for dates when given, so you know when the next dose is due

depending on age and what age he was wormed, your breeder should of told you all this. If he is 8 weeks he needs worming now and again two weeks later, and then another two weeks, ie., 8.10.12 weeks.then every 4 weeks, at this point i assume you are using pancur paste for pup, you can stop the paste and use milbemas from your vets, this will last for 3 months. Hope this helps. Any problems i am happy for you to email me via 360.

The breeder should have started its worming program then given you a written copy. The vet will explain it to you and do it if you ask when you take it for its jabs and check up at 8 weeks.
Have it de-flead as well, because fleas transmit tapworm.

Well, if it came from a good breeder, it would have been done at 2,4,6,and 8 weeks, and a fecal done. If this was NOT done, take a fecal to the vet with your "new puppy" visit. This should be done within 72 hours of getting a new pup.

It is safe to do as early as 6 weeks. If you do it yourself, you may want to go to a feed store to buy the medication. They tend to have a better selection and you won't have to repeatedly give the medications to complete the process as you may have to do with "over the counter" stuff. Don't be worried if your pup gets a bit sleepy after or has runny stool, this is normal. Just make sure to keep him hydrated during the process.

2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16 weeks then every 3 to 6 months or so depending on how much contact he has with other dogs, or on how often he is taken to places where other dogs have defecated.
