lol finally...someone who knows...i know it as soon as i get my opponent airborne, when he falls into the Tsuri-goshi and hits the mat, it's instant. Like love at first sight, or the perfect fitting ballcap, I know it as soon as i see him looking up at me from his back.

Ippons are rare and difficult in tournaments Judoka?

I disagree. But I understand where you are coming from.

Most of the time when I hit an Ippon throw on someone I don't realize it at the time. Those throws are the ones that are incredibly easy and seem to require no effort. Kind of like that perfect swing when you hit the ball just right.

I always tell my students when practicing throws that they know it is right when it is very easy to do. (meaning not taking a great deal of strength)

To me it always seems like the guy just is easily thrown and I am pinning or working towards a submission when I get the "Matte!" and I look over and see the arm raised.

Of course, there are times when it isn't so. Like when you catch a guy trying to do something and you do a counter and you Kiai with all your might.

I don't think of it as orgasmic or anything, I only know that it rocks when it is the finals. Any other time I am just focusing on who is left in my division.

If i have strong sukuri and i know that it is coming because everything lined up perfectly, i can only call it bliss, it is the single best thing in the world when you pull off a clean ippon and everything is set up just so. I mean there are always times when there is poor technique but you slam the guy, there is satisfaction but never the same as those rare occasions that you KNOW that this is what Jigaro Kano meant judo to feel like.

Wow you guys need to get laid...
Ipon meaning full point or win whether it be by throw submission or Osakomi (hold down).
Unfortunatly getting a perfect throw in competition is rare and difficult. Most fighters don't realize it unless their opponant makes a mistake and allows them to get in enough to get off a good throw. An Ipon with a throw like Tai Otoshi or Uchi Mata are very hard often fighters use varyations of Ipon sieonage or drop sieonage.
I remember more of the Ipons I have been thrown for than the ones I threw my self.
But I always know when I get my Ipon for submissions or Osakomi. You can feel the rush of anticipation and anxciousness as you squeeze your opponant waiting for him to tap or the bean bag to come flying in and the ref calls out Ipon Matte....
That's when I feel it. It's like all the energy you have been putting out just subsides and you feel a wave of instant gratification come over you. Not quite like sex but it sure makes you want to take a nap after... lol...

13 years of training in Judo And numerous local provincial and national competitions over the years. I don't compete too much any more now that I am Married Job kids etc... But I miss it a great deal and I'm only 29 so I look forword to many more years of fighting.
