Already know the answer from those who are NOT Christian. This question is directly asked to Christians... especially those that voted for the current President based on his claiming to be "born again".

Reason for asking, many that I know are Christian have stated they would vote for the person just based on their claim of being a Christian. I shook my head... for I didn't vote for the current one at all.. and I'm a Christian.

I would hope that the one I voted for would be a Christian, however, Christian politicians can and often do disappoint. I would pay more attention to what each person, no matter what party, has to say about things.

Not just a claim of christianity, but if I belive that a person is a christian I will probably vote for them. Also, a christian will probably feel the same way that I do on issues.

Most politicians say what they think people want to hear. I vote based on past performance. For instance, if they say they are a Christian and then vote contrary to Christian values, then they won't get my vote. A good example is abortion. If they say they are Christian and yet support abortion then I wouldn't give them the time of day, much less my vote.

No, Christians vary in their beliefs. I would vote for someone who shares my objectives and my means of achieving those objectives. Almost all of us would like to help the poor, so that is really not an issue. The issue is an understanding of the best process through which we should do it. I personally think that we should give of ourselves and our means to help the poor without being required to. I also think their are governmental positions that are more effective in helping the poor live a happy life than free hand outs. I do not think anyone should be ignore, whether they are a family struggling to feed their kids, or a young who just found out she is pregnant. Religion teaches us what to do for others, politics is how we do it, so I do not think that religion is a valid indicator in determining who supports my views best.

I would never vote for someone based on their claim of being Christian. I don't care what (if any) religion a politican practices - I care about the policies he/she will implement. Also I think a lot of politician's religious claims are pure pandering.

Yes I would rather vote for A TRUE CHRISTIAN president rather then a phony. I believe with all my heart that George Bush was our best option and I believe his "claim" to be a Christian was no claim at all, it is the truth. God shows us the phonies, it is you who decides whether or not to see it. You can judge all you want sweetie but God is with us and within George Bush too. I am not judging you, please do not misunderstand. I do not hate you for not voting for George Bush, in fact I love you, even more so for being a believer. I can only hope that God gives us a president who will be a beliver and who will do the best job for us. God bless you, take care.
