To tone down red, you'll need something purple! Generally, your best bet is to head to Sally Beauty and get a toner, like Born Blonde. I used that when I bleached my hair, and it looks like purple cough syrup, but it's weak enough to where it won't affect the rest of the hair. Just brush a bit on the highlights and wait 20 minutes, then wash it out. No harm done! It's semipermanent, so you may want to invest in a violet shampoo like Hask Stay Blonde (I used that too.) It won't affect the other color you have because it's too weak to do so.
Purple tones down red (and red does the same for purple). It's all based on the color wheel. Select a color's opposite and you neutralize it to a point.

Any color with "ash" in it will cut the red. (Ash basically means green based). The tricky part will be getting the color only on the affected areas. If I were you, I'd quit while I was ahead and get pro help. Red really isn't that bad, but if you get the ash color on hair without much red to it, you could end up with a green tint to your hair.

a shampoo and conditioner that's purple in color would help, doesn't matter what brand of shampoo, just as long as the substance is purple. also, the color should tone down after a few days, but yea, good luck!

Get a high light kit a few shades lighter then you wanted. Try that, but if it doesnt work, i dont have a solution except call up your hair stylist. The stylist should be able to help you.
Good Luck! :)
