What are some of the things that can cause the red Brakes light come on? The brakes are still solid and the fluid is topped off.

If the fluid is not low then your parking brake is not releasing all the way and engaging the light on. Try pushing by hand the brake lever all the way in and see if this makes light go out. If this doesn't work maybe the switch itself needs adjusting. Also make sure the connection is good at the brake fluid reservoir.

Are you talking about the rear brake lights, or the dash light that tells you that there is a BOO-BOO in the system. Because if it's the one, then I don't know, but if it's the other, then I still don't know. Hope this helped.

It is most likely the hazard switch believe it or not.GM has had a problem with them causing lighting problems throughout the vehicle.
