The tape based camcorders are not cheap (the good ones"

The DVD/ Hard disk types are about 1.5 times more expensive than the tape camcorders.

The easiest, cheapest ones are the "CARD" type camcorders. They record both the video and stills on a memory card, so easy & cheap.

More over, you can record on and on on the same card without quality loss.

512 MB card stores about 2 hrs of video. The format is mp4.

It can function as Webcam/ Camcorder/ Still Camera/ Mp3 Player/ Voice recorder.

Do not buy a camcorder

It will difficult for you to convert the format into the digital format
you need to buy more expensive sofwtare to convert those camcorder signal into digital

If you use just a good digital camera, to capture video (most can do this and at good quality too), the video can easily got transferred to YOUTUBE

So far it sounds like no has any clue how to do this. There are a number of camcorders that record directlyinto digital format. After that you can upload a digital file to UTUBE.

Before, it was quite difficult to send datas from camcorders to computer. However thanks to today's technology there are digital camcorders. I would suggest you buy a hard disk or DVD type recorder, because it stores data in computer based files. Let me list down several things that needed by DVD and HDD camcorders

DVD camcorders: you need a computer DVD drive. If the media is DVD-R you should have a DVD-R drive. If it's DVD-RW, you need a DVD-RW drive. and if the media is DVD-RAM, you need a DVD-RAM drive (superdrive).

HDD camcorders: you need a computer with USB. (almost every computer)

I've searched for several HDD recorder myself and have come to a conclusion. The conclusion can be viewed in the following link.
