I used to pick at my scab when I was younger, and now I have scars. Are there any creams or lotions I can use to lessen my scars?

i know people who have had success with something called mederma. BUT for some reason, my dermatologist of 3 years advised against it...i think that he believes that scars will fade--albeit not *completely*-- with time.

some practitioners make use of lasers or peels that take away the superficial layers of the skin and make scars less visible. it might also soften scar tissue to make it blend in with your other nonscarred surrounding skin more naturally. you can try mederma which is EXPENSIVE and takes several weeks to see results, but if that doesn't work maybe go to a dermatologist. the laser or peel things generally don't require much on the patient's part and pain is supposedly minimal, depending on which treatment you choose. GL!
