All things considered ... the Marital Status of the Employee, the number of exemptions they claimed on their W-4 Form is the basic reason why you would have more federal withholding than your fellow employee.

The employer withholds taxes based on the information you provided on your W4. If your W4 is incorrect, ask for another form and make the changes.

Visit www.irs.gov and use their W4 calculator to determine how many allowances you should claim on your W4.

A W-4 filled out differently. Maybe a different number of allowances claimed.
