Dead, unfrozen shellfish should always be cooked live. If it's dead and unfrozen, bacteria multiplies at an exponential rate.

you really should cook it while it is alive but if you buy it live at the fish market and they "kill" it for you and cook it right away it is fine
it is better to eat it that way broiled
i would not eat a lobster that is already dead i would wonder
how old is it and was it alive when it was caught
they do sell frozen lobster but personally i would be hesitant to eat it
why do you think restaurants have live lobster tanks

It is better to get a lobster that is still alive. Dying lobsters tend to eat away at theirself as they die so when you cook a already dead lobster theirs not as much meat inside. Also depending on how long the lobster has been dead it could make you sick too. Only way you should attempt to eat lobster dead is if its frozen and uncooked.

NEVER eat lobster that is not alive before cooking! It's poisonous, and can cause severe food poisoning. It's illegal to sell dead lobster, report that fisherman before he kills somebody.

It does not matter whether the lobster is dead, or alive. You can cook it the same way.

the fun part is seeing that little bastard squirm in the hot water. really soak him in a bath/pool of salted water so he'll purge the stomach and inside of impurities. then boil that's what we do with crawfish down here in south louisiana. enjoy. oh yes make sure you have the drawn butter.
