Because they were the forward base for Al-queda which blew up the World Trade Center in New York. Saddam Husein financed them. So we overthrew him. Now Iran is sending its soldiers into Iraq. We need to deal with them next. The Democrats are against it. They want the usa to lose.

It is their job to fight, and unfortunately, sometimes die, for their country. They wouldn't be so well respected if there wasn't any risk in serving.
They are fighting for a stable Middle East and one day a peaceful Middle East. If we were not over there Iran would have complete control of the region and a leg up in World War III, which would begin as a result, or at least a large scale war.

It began with the effort to liberate Kuait and has turned into the longest war in US history. Actually, the war against Iraq has been about as long as the US fighting in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam combined; yes combined!
Why the latest invasion? Bush43 has never explicitly stated the reasons. But seems to be combination of wanting to finish what Bush41 started combined with input from the neo-conservatives (Wolfowiitz, Cheney, and Rumsfeld) that sooner or later Sadam had to go, and sooner with a preemptive strike was better.
But we may never really know.

They are fighting and dying in Iraq because the voters in the United States made a huge mistake by voting George W. Bush into the office of the presidency.

There are three really lame reasons for the unconstitutional and illegal war against Iraq:
1) The Bush family has had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was humiliated and criticized for not "ousting' Hussein at that time; for the sake of the Bush dynasty, those who secretly control our nation from behind-the-scenes ordered George W. Bush to initiate this outrageous and useless 'war';
2) The giant U.S. military-industrial complexity needs to boost its profits from time to time. Ever since World War II, when industrialists realized how profitable war was, they bought up all the politicians, hired pricey lobbyists, and created special interest groups to encourage and promote 'war' at any cost;
3) Dick Cheney and his buddies at Halliburton and Exxon-Mobil want all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands - at any cost.
So, if 750,000 Iraqis must die and 3,000 U.S. soldiers must be killed, so be it. The U.S. government is, by far, the world's worst 'terrorist', spreading hatred and evil across the globe, just as a schoolyard bully throws his weight around on the playground. One day our entire society will pay dearly for our squanderous ways. -RKO-

Because George W. Bush wants Iraq to be a democratic country, which no one in the intelligent civilization cannot realize the gravity of the long running hundreds of years sectarian feud between the Shiites and the Sunnis. Conclusion, George W. Bush's hitlerian mentality.

we are fighting and dying in iraq because it is our job. we really don't have a choice in the matter unless we go AWOL and breech our contracts. Now, instead of wondering why we do the things we do maybe you should put down the bottle of tequila and watch the news once in a while then you will know the reason behind it.

because of oil,the whole invasion on Iraq is because of oil
Fifteen of the attackers were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt, one from Lebanon and NONE from Iraq.They were trained in Saudi Arabia NOT in Iraq,
In a videotape aired on Al Jazeera, on October 30, 2004, bin Laden (also from Saudi Arabia) said he had personally directed the 19 hijackers
There were never weapons of mass destruction Iraq which was the excuse to attack it... Saddam is overthrown and dead and the troops are still dying there...and 20 000 more troops are in Iraq now...like they are going to stop something

They are fighting and dying in Iraq because they volunteered to serve in the military, and the politicians sent the military over there.
