Yes! I was friends with my boyfriend for 5 years, then we have been dating for a year online this month and we still are dating. We are getting married when I get in school. He is truly my soul mate and I could not have found a better match. It doesn't have to be in person to be real...I got to know him better and I wouldn't have gone for someone like him usually. I wouldn't be with him if we didn't meet on a yahoo chatroom and actually take a chance. But be careful with some people. :)

I have met some very great people from internet initiated relationships. I have not found "Mr. Right", although, I am not really currently looking.
I have met men I have dated for up to 6 to 8 months steadily and still speak to on a regular basis because of our meeting.
Basically, it depends on how you measure "success". :D
Good Luck.

The thing about internet dating like Match, eHarmony, Yahoo personals etc. is everyone is there expressly for one thing - to meet someone. It takes the guess work out of trying to find a relationship unlike real life. I sum it up to an electronic blind date.
However, when you get acquainted with someone in a chat room, for example, you might begin a dialogue with someone and you just hit it off. Next thing you're having a phone conversation and an email exchange then you meet in real life. It is a progression that sometimes succeeds or fails.
I have done both and sustained healthy friendships and relationships with women met online. Just like in real life things work or they don't. Meeting online is just another mechanism to initiate communication just like meeting someone in a restaurant, a bookstore, through friends or at work.

yes, and I highly promote it if it's done right.
Once the two of you connect online, I suggest meeting immediately! Don't spend too much time writing back and forth or spending too much time without having met.
It's just like any other relationship. Only downfall, you can still see if they're going online after you've started dating. So be sure that once you've established exclusivity, you remove your profiles.

Met and married a woman whom I firmly believe is my soul mate through Lavalife.com.au - been together 2 and a half years and been married since March 2006.
I think it is a great way to meet people you otherwise probably wouldn't have an opportunity of meeting.

Some do, but mainly, it is rarely what you expect it to be. The important thing is pray that you meet a serious person for most just do it for fun.
