A new word, invented recently. Which basicly states that most people will believe in something ONLY because it FEELS right. Logic and reason are pushed aside, because it feels right that the authors of the bible had all the knowledge of the universe. It FEELS right that humans didn't evolve from apes, that we were created seperately.

How does it show about our intelligence if we base our knowledge of "feelings" instead of "reason and logic" Science is a search for the truth. Religion claims that it already HAS the truth. SO religion is really like "truthiness" It FEELS right that a god created everything and left no evidence of his existance.

You mean truthiness, Word of the Year? Yah, I've seen it a few times.. :-)

You're quite right that religion pushes aside logic and reason. You can't refute feelings. Bush Jr. also uses plenty of truthiness...he's no friend of fact!

So does it feel right that the world is flat, only 6000 years old, and it's ok to kill someone who worships on other than the sabath? Does it feel right to make sacrifices to a demanding god? Does it feel right to base your view of the world on a book written when people didn't even know what electricity was, let alone how large the planet really is?

I would just say "the truth" because it requires less syllables to be pronounced. As far as evolution is concerned... More likely to have happened than everything popping out of nothing.
