My little girl is not fat but is just much bigger than other kids her age. She is not quite two and weighs 40 lbs and is 40 inches tall. The doctor says that she is one of the healthiest toddlers she has seen. My problem is though that I can't find clothes to fit her. Because of her waist she needs a 5T but her legs are more like a 2T or 3T. So I am constantly buying really long pants and then rolling them up. It is just frustrating. Why can't I find clothes that fit my daughter!!! If you have any suggestions on where to look I would appreciate it. Thanks

I have the same problem with my son. His stomach isn't flat. He's 6 now and it's getting harder to find clothes for him the older he gets. I'm trying to teach him better nutrition. He's a very finicky eater and more playing outside and running around. I can see where although it doesn't seem like too much of a problem now it will be later if he adds too much weight.

Sometimes you can find 1/2 sizes in girls clothes. When you
see a size like 5 1/2 it mean that there is more room in the waist but the length is the same length as a normal size 5. For a toddler I have never seen 1/2 sizes. My advise is to hem up the pants or find someone to do it for you. Or you could dress her in skirts, that way the length would not be an issue. They are warm enough with cute leggings/tights. Good Luck!

Hmmm....I had the opposite problem with my step daughter...She was like a 2T in her waste and like a 5T for her legs. What we did was alter her clothes, which was pretty easy. We bought her 5T pants an just took in the waist.

You can do the same thing with her pants and it would even be easier than taking in a waist. Just hem her pants to the right lenghth (or just fold them under and sew them that way...No cutting involved!)...Seriously, it wouldnt take more than a couple of minutes. Then you wouldnt have to buy special clothes.

Good luck!

Most dry cleaners can hem pants for cheap. Take a stack of 5T pants in and let them hem them for you.

You need to get a second opinion about your child's size. She is the height and weight of a 4 year old. This may be cause for concern. Having said that, I believe there is a line of children's clothing called Huskies.....

Clothes from Gymboree tend to run big for their size. They are a bit pricey though.

get them hemmed in the larger sizes. its worth it getting cute clothes and hemming them, than getting plus sized toddler clothes which might not be so cute.
