It's OK, but the Catholic spouse is obligated to raise his/her children as Catholics. So the Protestant spouse has to be on board with that.
Marriages do work better when both spouses are on the same page regarding religion.

If you can find it in the Bible, but you won't. Too often we get restricted by church doctrine. The Holy Bible is the guidebook, not a list of rules made up by someone setting up their denomination of christianity. If both people love each other what does it matter which church they go to? Rules like what you are referring to are not biblical, they are doctrinal, and are awfully close to the legalistic mentality that the pharisees had.
