Color of gold (dark yellow). In many Asian cultures, gold signifies nobility and royalty. It also provide a variety to the scheme in your room. Painting the walls black would make the room too dark and red, too gaudy.

Anything, you could go with a grassy looking calm but warm green, a red (slick or matte), or you could wallpaper in a bamboo design or a grassy texture/look but neutral color like beige or cream. For windows, I would consider those paper screens on a horizontal sliding track with wood frames or bamboo shades. I would do at least one accent wall in red, or small splashes such as the doors that face into the room to closet, bathroom...as well as window sills and woodwork.
Another idea would be to paint an accent wall black, then freehand a Chinese or Japanese character onto the wall in red...a symbol that is pleasing to the eye or means something significant to you (happiness, peace, tranquil, harmony, etc)

If there is a great deal of red.. which it sounds like there is.. I would go with a cream colored wall. If the red you have now is say 10% or less of the color in the room, the greenish-gray color that is trendy right now and which is also frequently included in Asian art work would be nice.

i think a light "bamboo" green would look good since green is the opposite of red.
