The first question is what are their thoughts about beauty pageants? Show them the advantages that you will acquire from the experience. For example, would you win a scholarship? Also, is there an involvement with community service? Show them how this pageant will help you be better as a citizen. Beauty pageants also help young girls to develop their communication skills, to open up in communication matters. Look for the advantages and show them that its not just about being a "pretty face." Have you seen what has been going on with the recent beauty queens? Well, let them know that you are aware of what these ladies have done and that they should not be afraid of you going the same direction because this is something you are doing to better yourself. Hope this helps!

Talk to them about all the benefits of winning and participating in the pageant. Also tell them that participating in it will not mess up the harmony of your present life. It is a great opportunity and many women out there have made it big by becoming pageant queens.

You can mention how being in a pageant would be a great learning experience for you. You would get to see what "pageant life" is all about, you'd get to meet new people who share the same interests, etc. Most of all, you'll learn discipline, poise, health & exercise...

Oh, and if you won the pageant, that would be something to put on your college resume.

I really don't know what to tell you that you can say to them to let you do this. There are risks in being a pageant and also they are expensive to be in. Maybe they don't have that it would cost for you to be in the pageant. You didn't say how old you were either. Sorry I can't be of much help here.
