I have a top quality flat wall paint on a wall. I want to upgrade it to Satin, as it is in a kitchen area. Can I put Satin over flat? Thank you for your responses.

Flat paint is a good substrate for any type of paint, because it has no gloss to interfere with adhesion. You would still want to clean any greasy areas, which are so common in kitchens. You're going to like that satin finish a lot better -- much easier to keep clean!

yes you can as long as it is flat paint on your walls. if it is a dark color you might want to prime it first, but other than that its ok. ive done alot of that because i've been construction for 24 years. good question

yes, satin & flat paint are latex and they can cover each other..... if you were changing between a latex and oil base, a primer would be required..... carry on.... happy painting
