Yep thats exactly what happened. Flour and rice contain lots and lots of little critters. I was trying to find the article that I read the other day that says how much bugs stuff can have to still pass inspection. Cant find it . What ever you do for now on in the future you can either zap your flour in the microwave or put it in a really airtight container. To be honest I do both.

I have wondered the same thing, during the summer if I store the flour in a cabinet, i will have the bugs. So when we start having warmer weather I store my flour in the refrigerator, also my Oatmeal. The bugs come out of oatmeal too.

Hi!! First of all: EEEEEWWWWWWWW!!!! Been there!
These r stage of flies! (ie: maggots) GET RID OF IT!!
ORR

Take it back to the store (if u can-they will generally b embarrassed and grateful-hopefully, & refund u..) This can also happen with any grains, bullion!,cereals, cake mixes & pastas no matter how well they r sealed.... if u r worried 4 future, dump the whatever u buy into bowl to check and if good transfer to a tight sealing container, preferrable c-thru...

Also, from my exp. smaller stores have this problem due to the product being on the shelf too long or exposed 2 certain conditions! I learned to always buy that stuff from well-known larger grocery stores (who WILL refund u no problem!)

good luck & blessed be!
