Well, yes, it's possible. However, as a 12th grader myself I don't advise it. I went to prom with a senior my freshman year and that was awkward enough. I mean, I'm very tall so I didn't stick out. But I hardly knew any one else there. And as for an 8th grader, you dont know anyone else and you just aren't used to a high school atmosphere. If this guy likes you then he'll understand. I know you may really want to go to prom because you get to dress up and it's a very exciting thing. But you will get your moment later on. Trust me, you don't want to grow up to fast.

I know it sucks when people tell you that there's too much of an age gap but really, it's true. You'll realize when you become a senior that 8th graders are actually a lot younger than you are. If it was like a 35 year old dating a 40 year old, it wouldn't be as big of a deal because the maturity is about the same. Just be careful because you can almost count of him wanting more than just a date to the prom....probably in a sexual way, be careful.

Yes it's possible but the maturity level & what's expected relationship wise will be overwhelming for the 8th grader. I've been in that situation and unfortuantly not only do they wish to move faster than you SHOULD, but the fact they will be graduating soon will be a bit heartbreaking. Now if you are both just friends and your parents don't mind - GO. If not, I'd maybe sit this one out and wait until you are with kids closer to your age and can enjoy it better. It's worth the wait.

it's okay to like each other.
but going to the prom is abit wierd. the 12th graders mates will be immature and have a laugh about it, which isn't great for prom night. and teachers may not be happy either.
also, it's no way for the 8th grader to make friends. every other 8th grader will be jealous.
and everyone knows about prom night traditions and it's probably best for you not to get caught up in that when you're so young.
i think it's best to wait til your own prom night, or at least for a few years.

You can both like each other, but I'd be questioning his motivations. For example, why isn't he taking someone closer to his own age, or at least in high school? I think he might be trying to flatter you into a physical relationship that you really don't want to be part of. If there's really something there between you two, I think you'd be better off waiting until you're at least in 11th grade before you go out with him, because that way you know he's truly interested in you becasue he's willing to wait a few years.

not really, 17/18/19 year olds have different interests and thoughts than 8th graders. I think it is weird
