Personally, I view humor as essential to spirituality because compared to the reality of the universe, we are pretty stupid (in other words, there is A LOT that we don't know) -- so why not laugh about it a little?

You are right, there is a lot what we do not know. We might never have clarity but we can have trust. When you ( generally speaking ) start to do business with God, suddenly things start to come personal and and more serious. Then the jokes do not feel so funny anymore. I can appreciate a clever thought process, but when the seriousness of the situation starts to kick in, it starts to feel very awkward when people are joking with their eternity.

"Why should I care if they don't care"..but you cannot help caring when you love one another and you care about the destiny of the others/fellowmen. To place faith in Christ can result that you become very hard person to live with and to deal with.

Satire and humor can be used as tools of cetting point crossed or grossed. God gave us humor. I think it is a good thing. : )

Absolutely! Satirical, humorous and witty responses denigrate from the solemn and revered forum this has become! How dare you try to assert that we don't know about the universe. This is a learned and wise institution with many great minds gathered here to work! You insult us with your "humor," and lack of spiritual wisdom! And if you believe that.... I got some ocenview property in Minnesota for ya! *smile*

Humor doesn't go down with everyone. If you seek a laugh or so (and not out of pity) then you need to go over to a more friendly section where no-one attacks each other. Any section under Entertainment is quite peaceful and friendly.

Politics interior the authentic international has a tendency to be humourous and worry-free fodder for satire. it is a stretch to assert that this area must be representative of what is going on interior the political realm and the media, even though it does imitate it to some quantity.

Dear "curious" - Humor directed toward a religion need not be against a religion. However, even humor against a religion is Ok in by book. Why? I have learned and been entertained by folks making fun of my religious beliefs.

Why else?
