Crusades are just or not. With war, it's more a matter of whether the strategic aims are worth the cost. A stable, democratic Iraq would be a solid force in the region isolating both Iran and Syria, the two countries that are the biggest trouble-makers in terms of Muslim terrorists. With Afghanistan controlled, the entire mid-east would look a lot friendlier. It's a big idea, much bigger than either of your two little options.

Most of the people who support the war tend to really think that we have the chance to change the world for the better.
One telling difference between 'war supporters' and 'war resisters' is that people who have either had or have access to 'first hand' information are more likely to support what we are doing.
People who rely on the news media without any way of determining if what the news media is saying is the whole story - tend to oppose the war.
For example: The Associated Press was caught on several occasions presenting events than never happened as 'news.' I bet the people who oppose the war are not even aware of it.

I'm not afraid of Muslims, and I was sick of the UN issuing sanctions that meant nothing while Saddam shot at US and UK surveillance places.
The Gulf War wasn't over, it was a ceasefire contingent on Iraq disarming t of WMD, cooperating with UN inspectors, and permitting surveillance flights. None of those demands were met. End of story.
Now we have a chance to help jump start democracy and gain a valuable ally in the Middle East, and we dare not fail or the people who take over will be just as bad as Saddam.

This war IS truly just.
How many more years were we to just sit back and let Saddam flaunt the terms, which he agreed to, of the first Gulf War and all the international resolutions from the UN???
18 Resolutions from the UN and he never had any intention of honoring them!
Daily strike against soldiers (regardless of country of origin) patrolling the 'No-Fly' zones in the north and the south!
These things should have been addressed by the president in office at the time they were happening (Clinton) but that didn't sit well with the Democrats!
GET IT??!!

Frankly, I think there is a minority of the American people who are too stubborn to admit they were wrong. President Bush isn't a horrible man, but he's extremely stubborn and so are his supporters. There's all this talk about "winning" the war. I thought we did win. We deposed Saddam and destroyed what weapons he had. How is that not winning? What's left is religious strife over who is the rightful heir to Mohammad. Why do we need to solve the religious problems of the Sunnis and Shiites? It would be no different than sending our forces to Northern Ireland to fight the Protestants or Catholics.

No, I think they support the war because they don't understand the mid east. They should read more and understand the mind set and culture there. People should not watch so much brainwashing TV . It was a tragic mistake to go to war in the first place. The problem now is how do we get out?

I might be missing the mark, but I think that the majority of Iraq is muslim... that would be like saying a christian being afraid of other christians.... I think you might mean is "are they afraid of extremists or terrorists" and yes I believe they are....I believe they actually asked us to help them establish a demorcratic government to keep jerks like Sadaam from every rising to power again by bullying his ppl.

They'd like to believe what they're told about it being for democracy and justice, so they don't want to know about what's actually happening. Internally, they're scared of Muslims (the villain that replaced communists) so they embrace the Christian god with as much extremism.

I believe it just to defend the innocent women and children of Iraq and not let them stranded in a country ruled by death squads and thugs with no chance to experience freedom. This reason alone is all I need.
