I have irritable bowel syndrome and have been under an extreme amount of stress lately (might be losing my job). I have been having something weird happening that I can only describe as a shaking, shivering feeling in my entire abdominal area, like when you've been out in the cold too long. I feel it most when I'm lying in bed at night. It is freaky and annoying. Anyone else every had this?

i have experienced the same problem. ( i also have ibs ) you need to talk to your doctor. if you have nausea you might need meclizine, if you have an anxiety problem, you might need a benzo. or a mild muscle relaxer. your doctor will be able to tell you what you need, but you need to tell them everything that you're experiencing. i would suggest keeping a journal. every day, write down what you ate, how you felt, how many times you had a b.m., etc.... then go over it with the doctor. it's amazing how it might help! sometimes it's the smallest detail that solves the problem. good luck.........

Make sure you're not pregnant. If your not, often this is called muscle spasms which can be brought on by nerves and can last for months. If it is painful, I would consult a physician.
