Christians should be glorfiying God and giving HIM praise and Glory, God is the one who gets all the glory out of salvation through Jesus Christ. So I would not ask that- and I am a born again christian. Many people seek a relegion that suits them and something they can get something out of that pleases them- and that is where they go wrong.
The truth is not like buying something in a candy store. The truth is the most important thing you'll ever know- and that is through Jesus Christ. And once you do understand the gospel and believe it, its beautiful just the way it is! Nothing compares to the beauty of the Lord and His salvation which he gives freely to those who believe.

I am a Chrisitan and I never ask that question. I share the true word of God and how it leads to their salvation and I let the Holy Spirit do the rest.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
You can't put all who call themselves Chrsitian into the same catagory with all of those who actually study God's word daily and are doing their best to do as God instructs us to.
There are those who Call themselves Christians and even God sees that they do not do His will.
Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
How do you get closer to God?
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Why do you assume that ALL Christians ask this....that is a pretty BIG assumption! Just because one Christian (or even a handful) says something like that doesn't mean that all Christians do.
That's kind of like saying "Why do all atheists respond rudely to Christians?" When the truth of the matter is, ALL of them don't.....but there are a handful that do.
You can't judge everyone by one person.......
