I just moved out of my home into a cheap apt, because I couldn't afford to make my mortgage payment. I need furniture desperately. I haven't worked in three years. My resources are ALL used up. Any ideas?

If you have some thrift stores in your area, I'd check those out. There are some thrift stores in my town that offer sofas and loveseats for as low as $5. It's worth a shot to check it out!

Depending on the area you live in, check to see if there is a FreeCylce site for your city. Check out your local radio stations, some have call-in shows on Saturday mornings where people can buy/sell/trade/give-a-way items(The person giving it away may deliver it to you). Check to see if there is a local Crisis Assistance facility. They mainly help with bills, rent, food....but may know of a somewhere to get furniture from. You can also check with local Goodwills, Salvation Army sites, thrift stores, some of the managers will give furniture away if they know there is a situation like yours. Another idea is to write out on a piece of paper, what furniture pieces you would like and see if the apt. manager will keep an eye out for pieces for you, like if someone else is moving out and doesn't want them.

Check out the website called freecycle.org and register with the group in your area. You will be surprised at the items you could get. As well check out craiglist for your area.

Try posting your request on www.craigslist.org. THey have local boards for your specific area. Also try www.freecycle.org.
Good luck, I just know there is someone out there who would LOVE to have you take away their sofa.

you can also go to yard sales and just ask people if you can have it and explain your story. Most of the time yard sales are not about the money its getting rid of stuff.
