Yeah, my dog does it too. I always assumed it was somewhat of a hording instinct that was built in, where they take their food to a solitary place to keep others from getting to it. Instincts are crazy like that, ya know? My border collie also herds me, so that's another one. Funny how those things are there even when they have no exposure to teaching them to do such behaviors.

i am not guessing i actually watched a show an they mentoned this. animals do this in the wild alot if you notice, take heinnas for example, they will bite a good chunk of food off the kill an run over somewhere else to eat it. in the wild its so they get there share. other dogs would have been eating the same kill if he was wild, so there instincts is to grab a good portion of food an walk somewhere else away from the kill or bowl lol

lol my dog does the same thing...his food is in my kitchen where there is a hard floor and he goes and eats it in my living room where there is a carpet...i don't know but maybe he likes to eat on the softer floor...or maybe he sees us going in there to have snacks watching tv and he wants to do the same thing!! it's kinda funny to watch my dog go take a mouthful of food and run into the other room to eat the little pieces and then come back for some more and run into the other room again...he's a chihuahua

haha, i think we've all seen it before.
actually, it's just instinctual. don't worry.
another tip for you...if you are ever worried that your dog is not feeling well, or not eating (and you'd feel better if he did), take one of the morsels from his bowl, playfully, and roll it across the floor like bowling...he'll chase it and eat it, come back for more, and do it again. after a few times his appetite will be stimulated enough to finish eating.

it is actually a need for companionship. The dog wants to be near you. OUr dog does the same thing. Usually it is an issue where one of us just came home or we are in the room eating. She just has to be near us.

I have 2 dogs that do the same thing. My friend's dog did it also. I think it's just because they are not the brightest dogs in the world. But who cares...they are eating and not starving.

Who is familiar with for effective! each canines i've got ever had has executed this & i think of that is with the aid of fact they like the sturdy stuff first then, to maintain the different canines from getting it, will eat it final. some even take a chew, flow into yet another room to it eat, then return to the bowl to do all of it over lower back. between the numerous unusual issues our canines do to maintain us guessing.

you need to put her food down twice a day once in the morning and again in the evening. do not free feed. if she does not eat all the food then pick it up and feed it again in the evening.

Just a habbit, most likely. If she's eating her food, and not starving herself, I wouldn't worry about it.
