Help with German-English translation?

Question

In my German III class we are reading Kein Schnaps für Tamara, and i have been doing well, but there is this one part in chapter 5 where I get completely lost.

The character is talking to the new Mayor, who is asking upset with the main character for dancing with the mayors' secretary:

"Aber sie tanzt so gut und ist so nett (i understand all this, but i don't get the next clause and on), dass mich das jetzt auch nicht mehr stört, wenn es mich überhaupt interessiert hat."
"So, so" sagte Bricks (the new mayor) ein wenig leiser. "Es interessiert Sie nicht? Was interessiert Sie dann - Oder sind Sie nur zum Vergügen Endwarden?"
"Jeder hat seine Art Vergnügen", sagte ich, "der eine ist im Sängerverein, der andere interessiert sich für Rätsel. Es gibt viele Rätsel in dieser Stadt. Aber das ist ja wohl mein Bier, nich wahr?"
"Seien Sie nicht dumm. Leute wie Sie haben hier nichts zu suchen. Ich habe einen sehr langen Arm. Ich kann Sie fertig machen"

I get only certain parts.

Again, I get certain parts, but it doesn't make a whole lotta sense. I don't know why I don't get this one part. Thanks for the help.

"So well", said Bricks, with a slightly lower voice. "You don't care about it? What do you care about then? Or are you Endwarden just for fun?"
I said: "Everyone has his own kind of fun/pleasure, one is in a singer's association/club, the other one is interested in enigmas/mysteries/puzzles. There are many mysteries in this town. But that's my business, isn't it?"
"Don't be stupid. People like you don't belong here [literally: People like you have nothing to search for here]. I am very influencal [literally: I have a very long arm]. I can tie you into knots."
