Coming in from the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, etc, where does the subway go under ground?

The Queens Boulevard line (the E and several local lines) is entirely underground all the way to Jamaica. The 7 line to Queens is underground in Long Island City, but becomes elevated at Queens Plaza. The A is underground all through Brooklyn, but elevated in Queens. Most of the other Brooklyn/Queens lines are underground through downtown Brooklyn and elevated beyond there.

Depends what line your taking.

I know on the 1 (west side of the bronx to manhatten) it goes underground at 191st and then comes out again for 125th and then goes underneath again for 116th.

The 6 goes underground at 137th st.

I dont know about the rest.

Ler's see if I can get this right off the top of my head using my knowledge and the subway map . . .

1- In Manhattan for one stop (125 St) between 116 and 137 Streets. Then after Dyckman Street heading North to the Bronx.

2- In the Bronx, heading North after 149 St and 3rd Avenue Station

3-In Manhattan at the last stop 148 St. In Brooklyn, heading South I think after Utica Avenue (or Sutter-Rutland Rd)

4- In the Bronx, heading North, after 149 St and Grand Concourse

5- In the Bronx, heading North, after 149 St Third Avenue

6- In the Bronx, heading North after Hunts Point Avenue (I Think)

7-Heading to Queens, after Vernon Blvd/Jackson Avenue

A- Heading to Queens, I think after Utica

B- Heading to Brooklyn, after Grand Street (Goes over Manhattan Bridge), then after 7th Avenue in Brooklyn

C- The C Train never goes above ground

D- Heading to Brooklyn, after Grand Street (Goes over Manhattan Bridge), then underground until after 36th Street in Brooklyn

E- The E Train never goes above ground

F- Heading to Brooklyn for 2 stops after Carrol St (Smith 9th, 4th Avenue), then for the rest of the trip to Coney Island after Church Avenue

G- For 1 stop after Carroll Street (Last stop Smith 9th Sts)

J- Most of the ride is outside, heading to Brooklyn/Queens, goes outside over Williamsburgh Bridge after Essex Street, then goes back underground briefly at 121 st (two stops until last stop)

L- Heading to Canarsie after Wilson Avenue (I think)

M- Most of the ride is outside, heading to Brooklyn/Queens, goes outside over Williamsburgh Bridge after Essex Street

N- Heading to Queens after 59 St Leington Avenue. Heading to Brooklyn, after Canal Street (Goes over Manhattan Bridge), then after 59 St in Brooklyn

Q- Heading to Brooklyn, after Canal Street (Goes over Manhattan Bridge), then after 7th Avenue in Brooklyn

R- Heading to Queens after 59 St Leington Avenue.

S-Times Square Shuttle Does not go outside
