"The dog eats the dog"; or "a dog eats a dog"; "a dog eats the dog" or "the dog eats a dog". All are possible in a language without articles!

"Canem" is the accusative case of "canis" (the object of the sentence) and "edit" is the third person singular of "edere", which means to eat.

You mean translate FROM Latin. It is 'dog eat dog'.
