According to wikipedia, dog breeds.....

Generally, before a type of dog is recognized as a true breed, it must be shown that mating a pair of that type always produces dogs that have the same characteristics as the parents, usually both in appearance and in behavior. This is known as breeding true.

In other words, mutts don't breed true, so any "designer" mutt may have certain characteristics of either parent... good or bad. Who knows? I sure don't. I do find it interesting that people think oh! if I breed a such and such and a so and so it'll be a such and so, and have -the best qualities of both breeds!- Maybe in a test tube it will, but not in real life. If you want a mutt go to your local shelter and save one from death.

Why do people keep feeling the need to breed two different purebred dogs together in an attempt to get a different breed?

She's not a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier hyrbid; she's a common mutt. The fact that she had two purebred parents doesn't make a lick of difference. My American Eskimo/Golden Retriever was not a "goldeneskie" or whatever cute name people want to concoct up, she was a mutt.

Your best bet to find information on that particular combination of mutt would be to google each breed seperately. Whatever breed the puppies most look like, is the one that their temperament and size will most likely conform to. If you are specifically looking for a Chihuahua/Boston Terrier combination, try looking on www.petfinder.com. There are tons of mixed breed dogs on there in desperate need of good homes!

Hope this helps...
