Well you will need a lot of shorts since it may. It gets really hot there. Some places you need to look a little nice and you need to have some shirts that have your shoulders covered.

The mall is huge. They have alot of good stores, resteraunts and some other stores.

i went to the Air and Space Museum three times. The many many things to see there are just fabulous. They have everything from the first landing on the moon to whats going on now. They have models of all the first plains and spacecrafts. They also have fun places for children and educational too.

the Washington National Cathedral is the biggest church in washington. they have music, good sermons and it really gets you in touch with god. even if you are a first time visitor they welcome you with open arms.

One of the best transportation is the Gray Lin Trolly. They have stops at Holiday Inn Capital, Arlington Cemetery, Post Office, Ronald Reagen Building, and so much more. But if you prefere taxis or the subway they centainly are an experience themselves.

The Arlington National Cemetery is a beutiful place to visit. Over 275,000 service men and woman are laid to rest on 624 acres of land. About 24 burials are conducted every weekday. The three un- known soldiers memorial there is a awesome place to see. The changing of the guards is cool to whatch too. Also the Kennedy gravesites are beutiful. It only cost around 5 dollars for the tourmobile sightseeing and you will see the Kennedy Gravesite, Tomb of the Unknowns and the Arlington House.

The Library of Congress is a beutiful site also. You can take a tour and you will get to see everything.

Mount Vernon is wonderful. It will tale around an hour in the summer to see the house. You will get a tour of all the rooms and every purpose of them and then go see the tomb of George Washington and his family. They have wonderful gardens, horse stables, a lake and so much more. You will see a video and when you leave you will know everything there is to know of our first president.

They have a wonderful zoo there.

Make sure to go to the Spy Museum. It wont look big on the outside but its huge on the inside. It will be an experience you will never forget.

I was born and raised in Washington DC and now I live in Maryland. Also I used to work for the National Air and Space Museum when I was younger.

Yes, you will walk a lot so wear good walking shoes and comfortable clothing. It's warm in May, but not "hot". Before you come, get online and check the current temperatures in DC and pack accordingly.

The National Mall is about 1 mile long, so it's not that big (to me at least). And yes, everything is expensive in the tourist areas. But as it is in any major city, the minute you get away from the tourist traps (usually one or two blocks away from the National Mall) you can find reasonably priced food.

I'm not sure what grade you're in, but you may not be able to wander far from your group. If that's going to be the case, ask mom or dad for extra dough, because you're going to need it! Hopefully your school will think ahead and get a lunch plan for you at some of the main tourist sights. Even the McDonalds in the Air and Space can run you almost $10.

Have fun!

Take your camera
Everything is expensive
People live there, most of which are the seedy, criminal race. High crime, believe it or not, in our capital. Stay within your group. Have fun. Try to make the Marine smile.
