I have a 3 year old dog who does the same thing. Sometime he even brings his food into another room to eat it .

LOL this is perfectly normal dog behavior! If a dog feels the slightest bit uncomfortable eating around another person or dog, they generally will grab a piece or two at a time and go elsewhere to eat it. It stems back to their wolfy ancestry, when a lower-ranking member of the pack would grab a bit of food and go a little ways away to eat and then come back for more (it was so a higher ranking member wouldn't take their food). Most family dogs accept the humans as higher ranking in their "pack" which would explain why your yorkie doesn't eat her food right there. We have a female Chihuahua who has always done this. She'll put several pieces in her mouth though, till she looks like a chipmunk, and then carry it all into the living room, hop up on the couch, spit it all out and eat it one piece at a time lol.

My dog does this too. Don't worry. If it seams like he isn't eating he will when he gets hungry enough.

Maybe he's just 'playing with his food'.
