I'm no doctor or dream guy, however I used to have more bad dreams when I slept on my back, and was told that it is because your brain may think that you are in the falling down position, and be trying to wake you up by giving you bad dreams, this may be rubbish, but I thought that I should at the very least mention it

Maybe being on your back is a sign of vulerability and helplessness. This is probably just a coincidence, but you still might want to get it checked out, because your dreams say things to do. For instance, when you have dreams like these, and the next day, something bad happens (like you get robbed or a family member or pet dies), these dreams could be a warning. I'd suggest talking to someone who knows all about this kind of stuff. It can be cool or scary, but at least you'd be prepared when these dreams come around.

I believe dreams are dependent on what your blood sugar level is doing during the night. The lower the blood sugar, the nastier the dreams. If you are having bad dreams, you may toss and turn, thus switching you from your side to your back. I think it coincidental and due to gravity that you always wake up on your back.

To lower your chances of scary dreams, eat a small protein (meat or meat substitute) based meal with a very little bit of low glycemic complex carbohydrate. This will help keep your blood sugar level during the night, lessening your chance for scary dreams.

I also find I wake from a bad dream on my back, I was told I wake at that point because i am over weight and find it difficult to breath when on my back in bed, not saying you are over weight but if you are that could be it.

i think it is because you feel like someone is on your back. someone is hiding something from you. And now, deep in your brain, when you sleep on your back, you feel like you got a demon on your back causeing nightmares. But dont worry its all in your mind.

perhaps because lying on your back is a sign of loss of control. for instance,,,you could be raped in your dreams..while lying on your back,...or killed. when youre on your back, your in a state of helplessness.. perhaps thats why
