Rubicons are about the best out of the box off road vehicle out there...just need to know how to drive it. It's not a car and is made to be knocked around a bit, so it will not drive or feel like a car. Although '07 wranglers do drive and act more road friendly than older ones, they're still rough...especially the rubicon. There is still room for improvement and not expensive stuff either. A lift, bigger tires, a winch, body armor, on board air all can help, but simple stuff, like being able to engage both lockers in high gear can help in many situations. You can find instructions online for the older rubicons on how to accomplish that, and before too long, someone will have figured this one out as well (basically, connecting a few wires). Not only does having a locked rear end help when running around on sand, but with general trail driving, you'll reduce wheel spin and keep from rutting up trails (front lockers wont be needed with general trail driving...save them for high geared mud running and low geard rock crawling). Sometimes it can be fairly dull running around in 4low. Another simple fix you can make is an ABS override switch. Yank the fuse for ABS, plug in two spade connectors, hook a fuse into one of the wires, run them to a dashboard mounted switch, and presto...you have ABS for on road and hard surfaces, and no ABS for the soft stuff. Only thing about these fixes are that they make driving it less "dummy proof". You'll deffinately want to have ABS while on road, and running around on pavement with locked differentials will destroy your drive train. One more suggestion for your new jeep...USE it. It's a $28-$29,000 machine ment to be taken off road. Don't confine it to a garage and pavement, and you will love it.

Pros: Its fun
Cons: You can break things if you don't know what you are doing.
So don't be a dumb ***. Go with other people that have experience. If you can't afford to fix it don't take it off road. The warranty won't cover breakage from off roading.
And if you don't off road it you just wasted your dough!
