House work is so hard at times. How do you other moms manage it?

My friends throws everything in the floor and sweeps it into a huge pile then goes through it throwing things away and so on.

What do you do?

I am not motivated, we just moved and not even 1/6th of the boxes are unpacked.

Here are a couple of things that I have done.

Only clean when they are taking their nap. I would have a goal to unpack one box each day and take it slow.

Find things that they can do to help you. For example, I purchased those disposable dusting wands, and a small broom for my children and they "help" me.

I also have a child that gets into everything so I've had to put all unpacked boxes on high shelves until I can unpack them and also needed to keep them taped shut.

Lastly, hire a babysitter or ask a friend to watch your child so that you can get it done alone.

It's hard I know I have two that are 5 and 6.

Don't feel bad, I moved into my home 10 months ago today, I still have unpacked boxes in the garage! lol I have 5 kids, two small ones. I usually let them clutter up the house with their toys til I can't take it anymore. Then I tell them to pick them up and put them back where they belong. If they are clueless I tell them to throw it on their beds. THen I vaccum the floors and sort later. For the wee ones in diapers, I put them in their play pen so I could get the cleaning done twice as fast. But don't stress over house chores, your babes are only little ONCE. My oldest is in the Air Force! I sure do miss him clinging to my legs while I try to vaccum! lol I do have a 4 & 6 year old to keep me happy. My teens are too busy for me, don't even know they live here! wink (I use to call up my best friends to hold the clingy baby!) Good luck!

Boy do I feel your pain! My daughter is in the middle of everything I do. My idea of a good day is one where my daughter is with my mother and I can clean house uninterrupted!

All I can tell you is be patient. Try to get your child to help you with whatever it is you are doing. My daughter is 3.5 and I ask her to run errands for me "Could you put this in the kitchen for me" or "Could you help Mommy sort laundry?". Bottom line is that it will take you longer, be more frustrating, and you may not get things as clean as Martha Stewart would. Don't sweat the little sh*t! And remember-you are the Mommy! (and it's okay to have a beer in the middle of the day!)

Put some music on, that usually helps me get motivated. I know that it is hard to clean and get organized when you have children. I am a mother of seven, and thank god my last one just went to school. Try and do your cleaning during nap time, or if they have outgrown nap time, try cartoons, or even allowing them to play games on the pc or television. Good Luck!

I have one of each, one clingy and one silent storm who gets into everything! I clean when they nap or after they go to bed in the evening.
I recently read this & thought it was cute, it kind of applies: A good mom has happy children and dirty floors.

we moved about a year ago, my daughter was 2 or so, and it was hard. we just now got rid of the last of the boxes..serious, they were put in the spare room and left. luckily being a military family we had movers who packed us, and then each box was put in the room it was packed from, and just emptied like it was at the last house. and we put on a lot of videos for our daughter to keep her busy.

have the child help you, give them a box with things they cannot break and ask for help, children love to feel like they are helping and thank them and tell them what a great job they have done, did you ever watch mary poppins

Throw things out, or donate things you no longer need. Grandma's are good for taking care of kids when you need a break. When all else fails, call 1-800-GRANDMA.
