Depends on the situation. I live in NYC so it would be a ridiculous luxury for me. Before I lived here, I lived in a small town with no public transportation which was surrounded by towns which also did not have any public transportation system or cab service. I worked 3 towns away. My mom had to drive about an hour to work. Without cars, we wouldn't have been able to go anywhere and even the nearest grocery store was a 4 mile walk. I suppose we could have lived without a car but we would have had to borrow one all the time or have other people pick us up and drop us off every day.

"Having a car, a nessecity or a luxury"- it depends on 3 things:
1. Your true needs
2. Your ability to buy

Having a car is a necessity. Having said that, it may seem having a car is kind of not so easy to fulfil because of the capitalistic economic disparity that exist in the world today. But then, I long for the day when everybody can have access to owning a car in a world that has a equanimity-oriented economic set-up.

It depends on where you live and your profession.
If public transportations are good in your area, you may not need a car. If your job requires you to change location frequently during the day, having a car may still be useful. You could also think about car-sharing, trying not to be only one person sitting in a car, in order to reduce the emissions of harmful gases.

it depends on how you use it.
you can keep a piece of junk calling it a car outside your house and are not using it. or use a car instead of walking a kilometer to the shops. that is also nonsense.
if your job is the moving types then you need a car,or the public transport to your office is not OK or you are operating your car as a part of the car pool.
if it is to show off it is not good. and your papa's car is definitely not good. earn, save and buy your own. then you learn a whole system of values including the value of money.

having a car is not at all a necessecity its just a luxury.
Almost 60% to 70% of the public travel by local trains which saves your precious time and money, others travel by B.E.S.T. buses or other govt. vehicles which saves money. Rest uses cabs or ricks as mode of transportation.
You just hire them and leave them after your journey. You don't have to face parking problems or maintainance problems.

given the way the U.S. is set up, in very many areas it is a necessity. Where I am there is no public transportation and no taxi. A shuttle service is very expencive... most all services are spread out and it is over 20 miles for much and even futher for specialized medical and large shopping areas.... the nearest theater is 20miles..... even with groceries I can save by making one trip of 40 miles each month rather that shop localy at higher prices... the nearest place to buy mens clothing is over twenty miles.... in my town many have to drive over 20miles to work....so a car is a necessity

I'm afraid it's a necessity in much of America because of lack of public transportation. Also, I live in a mid-sized city in a Rocky Mt. state. I can't keep a horse in town. I'm too far away to walk to a train station, so calling a cab to take me to work is the only other option since I live 30 miles from my job.

It depends on where you live. In a place, where the public transport system is well oiled and well maintained, having an expensive personalised locomotive is bothersome. If the public transport system is very bad, owning a care becomes absolutely necessary, as a lift is a must in a multistoreyed building.

It is necessity,it is luxury and it can be vice versa. It depends on the use and expenses incurred on it. If you are single and not rich it is luxury. You have many members in your family and you are rich also it is a necessity.
