Get on a normal sleep-wake pattern if you are already not on one. Wake up early in the morning so that you will be tired at an adequate time at night. Keep your room super dark with shades/curtains. Turn on some "white noise" such as a small water fountain or one of those nature sound CD's. Drink a glass of milk before you hit the sheets. Stay away from caffeine after 2 pm. Make sure the temperature is comfortable in your place. And most importantly, if you are suffering from anxiety, talk with your physician. I'm not an advocate for sleeping pills unless absolutely necessary. Hope it works out for you!! I have the same problem you do at times because I work the night shift. And if I'm feeling anxiuos, it's hard to clear my head. I fantasize about whatever I feel like, just to get my mind off work and problems to help me fall asleep. This along with all of the above help me fall sleep the majority of the time. If you can find time, take a brisk walk, or a light jog during the day.

If your not on a exercise regime, get one. Drugs are all well and good but you will become dependant on them. Eliminate all stimulants from your diet, ie: caffiene, artificial colors. MSG. If you truly exercise your body until you are tired , you will sleep. Pleasant dreams
