Aerius for kids. My daughter had no luck even double dosing with Reactine as well as showing every day [to remove dust from her hair] and nasal spray. She has pretty bad allergies, and I found that Aerius is the ONLY one that helps her. She also takes Nasonex nasal spray and is 100% better.
One non OTC we also tried on suggestion of a friend is Omega fish oil supplements. They work really well too. The combination of the three have done amazing things for her allergies

It has a coupon too! Nasonex is prescription from your doctor, and fish oil supplements can be found anywhere [Safeway too!] BUT always better to get from a health food store.

I would not try the Canadian Zyrtec because there are to many people trying to sell the look alike and they aren't nothing more than a sugar pill. Conartist are every where Your child needs to see a Doctor who can test him for allergies, and this can be costly. I had to go to Carolina Asthma & allergy, because I took any and everything to but I kept staying sick and itching alot and it turned into infections and rashes and it became very dangerous. So after testing me and finding that I was allergic to dust, trees, grass, dogs, cats, pollen, cockroaches, mold, the list goes on and on.......They had to start me on shots. Plus I take Zyrtec, ( Astelin & Flonase nose sprays), patonal eye drops , Singulair, and QD All. I'm still misreable but after these shots start working I should at least be able to enjoy life like I use to. I tried to stop the medications and I got horribly sick. I was told to vaccum two or three times a weeek use allergian killer, also dust with peldge or something that collects the dust, put the animals out side if you have any and clean your duct system and use a dape cloth to wipe down the walls, and change your filter in your heat and a/c unit once a month try to find one that is for allergians. Wash his pillows ift hey are feather pillows get rid of them if not just buy covers for them and then use a pillow case. It's best to have hard wood flooring no carpet, also sweep and mop as often as possible. Look for mold in or under your home. THIS MAY SEEM LIKE IT'S TO MUCH BUT I HAVE TO DO THIS AND I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS, BUT I JUST STARTED MY ALLERGY SHOTS 2 MONTHS AGO AND I KNOW THAT THEY MAY NOT WORK, BUT IT'S WORTH A TRY. I HAVE BEEN LIKE THIS FOR 30 YEARS AND IT'S GOTTEN WORSE SINCE I MOVED TO A STATE THIS HAS ALL THE SEASONS AND BEAUTIFUL FLOWERING EVERYTHING. GOOD LUCK AND IHOPE THIS INFORMATION HELPS

a lot of dr dont like to send the child to a specialist bc they fear they wont get to treat the child anymore for those symptoms.....any way you child needs to have an allergy test so you will know what you are trying to treat him for..being that i am a huge allergy sufferer, i have tried all the drugs too...i have found that with each allergen, there is a certain way to treat each symptom. to get a good med let the allergist prescribe something that works in and outdoor. there are more drugs than the ones you have tried that do work, but every body is different so i cant say which ones to try, plus hes younger than me. most of the time for itchy eyes you can use a cold compress and that will help. you need to learn your sons triggers that way you can also learn what works the best.

Wow, my son and I have SEVERE allergies and Benadryl always does the trick for us when it gets really bad. You may need to find out what he's allergic to and try to avoid it. Also check with your doctor to make sure the dosages you are giving is correct. If you don't give the right amount it won't be as effective. My son had a growth spurt and I had to up the dosage.

I'd take him to a doctor especially since he's so young. I had very bad springtime allergies (very itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, my ears and mouth and throat itched too, awful) and my doctor prescribed 2 different nasal sprays and Allegra. These medicines worked well for me, but they can cause sleeplessness and drymouth. Now I only take them around springtime.
Before I went to the doctor I tried Claritin but it did nothing. Benadryl worked for short periods but made me fall asleep.

If Claritin doesn't work there is a problem for 5 years old. You can try allegra which is a lot stonger and needs doctor's experience.

before giving a child a bunch of meds, I would try to at least find out what allergies he/she has. Go to your family Dr. and have them tested and thy can put the child on the meds thy need not a broad band of anthistimes, could be something that over the counter meds can not take care of

You've tried all the best OTC out there. Take him to an allergy specialist and he/she can put him on a prescription that will help greatly. My kids have had luck with Singulair. Good luck.

Lavendar needed oil is tremendous at taking the itch away and allowing the bites to heal swifter. do this, it extremely works. it would properly be offered on line like on ebay, some grocery shops, or a wellbeing nutrition save.
