That is normal. They usually start about that age. Just get a male to have a talk with him to make sure he knows everything about sex and so forth.......

While it is normal for boys this age to want to look at them, and sometimes masturbate while doing so, it is time for your son to have a chat with a positive male role model about sex and the pro's and cons of "doing it" as some teens say prior to marriage and what it could mean for him if a girl gets pregnant. I would recommend that you ask his youth pastor if you have one to speak with him, if not ask a Guidance Counselor to chat with him. I would recommend a book or video series called Changes and Choices which will help him make some positive choices. God intended sex to be for man and woman in the bond of marriage and he needs to understand he is ultimately responsible for what he does and if he has sex prior to marriage, he needs to use common sense. I hope he chooses to wait until he finds the young lady he will spend his life with. But being a Minister I maybe saying to much.

Yes it is normal, your reaction is very important. I would speak to him about how he obtained the products since he is under age. I would also express that you understand his maturing, but he should not have contact with indivuduals willing to purchase these items for underage youth.
My son is fifteen and has Down Syndrome, even he mastubates and has normal urges, as a parent I allow him to purchase teen magazines with age appropriate pictures of girls.

I think it is natrual. He is at that age where he starts liking girls and his hormones are definatly going to be kicking in. He may or may not be masturbating for all you know, but it is a perfectly heathly action. If you are concerned you should confront him about it. Don't charge him, just try to be casual about it, let him know what you are thinking or wondering. He may just be curious. You don't want to embarass him or make him feel ashamed because there is nothing wrong with it. Talk to him to make sure you both are on the same page.

No, it's not too early. Don't let him know that you found them. If you make a big deal out of the magazines all it will do is embarrass him and make him hide things even more. Do ask him if he has any questions about girls, but don't push.

Don't listen to the sociology sux guy...he's an idiot. Masturbation is completely normal for a 12 year old. I wouldn't worry about it...but I'd suggest having the sex talk with him if you haven't already.

I masturbated before I was twelve. I didn't realize what I was doing until I got older. And no, I am not a sexual deviant. It's normal, but i suggest having the "birds and bees" talk now. At least you know his sexual preference.

ok a confession......I started masteurbating at that age and i regret it, i wish i was taught about it...masturbating at such an early age can have its consequences on the nervous system and other things i read about...and it can also the main reason for premature ejaculation when he grows up, i can vouch for that
BUT dear parent u don't wanna embarrass ur child, i remeber i got very embarrassed when my mom asked me if i started having wet dreams and i denied it when i was around 13-14, i don't know about ur child he might not get as embarrassed as i did....the best thing i can think of is to educate them in an indirect way like displaying books infront olf them that teach them about the consequences of early masturbation on their health, or let their doctor talk to them while u r not in the room...a good book i can recommend is called guarnteed .....sometin sometin ultimate sex by Alan Ritz, leave it under his pillow :)

the most important is to make him understand that early masturbation or excessive masturbation could ruin his sexual system

Good luck
